Good Squash and Good Times in Swakopmund

While the world’s best battled it out in Manchester, Namibia’s best battled it out in Swakopmund. The SFC Squash Club Championships, held over the weekend of 17-19 October, saw the triumphant return of a popular and enjoyable local tournament.

After a weekend brimming with bonhomie and spirited competition, the final match between brothers David and Ian Rowett sealed the feel-good factor with a fitting display of squash and good-natured rivalry.

Namibian Open: an Extravaganza of Squash
With the exhilarating final between two world-ranked players (ranked 1 and 2 in SA), the Namibian Open drew to a sensational climax last weekend. Clinton Leeuw beat his senior compatriot, Rodney Durbach, in a gruelling 90-minute five-game marathon. Our bums got sore from sitting.

In preparation for the main event, the top players from Walvis and
Swakop will play each other in a mini round robin. A small
bring-your-own braai follows so come along and enjoy the squash and the
