All-new Super Dooper Social Squash League

Q: Which of the following best describes you?

  1. I love squash but I haven’t played in years and am still getting back into it
  2. I love squash and I have one or two people with whom I play regularly
  3. I love squash but I’m not good enough to play other people
  4. I love squash but I don’t have time to commit to any organised events
  5. All of the above

Did you answer “E”? Thought so. In fact, “All of the above” applies to all of the members of the SFC Squash Club. In other words, ladies and gents, we’re all in the same boat so let us arrange some squash evenings that will allow you to:

  1. Get back into playing regular squash
  2. Discover other players of a similar level to yourself
  3. Improve your squash by playing more games
  4. Have fun with other squash lovers like you in a fun easy-come easy-go social league
  5. All of the above

Enter the All-new Super Dooper Social Squash League (that is an order). Here’s how it works:

  1. Put your name on the entry sheet at the courts
  2. Check your position on the ladder and challenge up or down as you see fit - this is very important because…
  3. We then use the ladder to create teams of equal strength

Thus the top 4 (or 5 or 6, depending on how many people enter the social league) are the #1 players in each team; the next four are the #2 players in each team; the next four are the #3 players in each team. And so on, until we have 4 (or 5 or 6, depending on how many people enter the social league) teams of reasonably equal strength.

  4. Once the teams have been finalised we then convene on a set night each week and the teams all play each other to reveal the eventual Social League champs
  5. Each team will have a turn at catering (just snacks) and we’ll get a cool box with drinks and have a bit of music to lighten the mood further.
  6. Each team will have a captain who will ensure that reserves are found for anyone who can’t make it
  7. We’ll start in mid-June with a two-round league, which means you play each team twice, with a short squash hiatus in between rounds

Simple. And all you have to do is make sure you’re in the right position on the ladder. Once we have the provisional ladder set up, we’ll arrange challenge matches on certain nights to help get the balls bouncing.
