Social League to get a Facelift
On Monday, the committee met. The committee discussed. And the committee decided to give the social league a boost like one of Jörg’s special lobs.
So we’ve come up with a new format to lift the fun stakes somewhat and we think you’ll like it…
First, we resurrect the ladder using Sumari’s sturdy Vambo assistants and some modern web technology; second we create evenly-matched teams using the latest ladder positions; and then all the teams play against each other on the same night each week.
That means instead of normal social league for May, we’ll run a simple ladder challenge exercise. And from this ladder we’ll select the teams at the end of the month and start the new social league in June.
Team selection will work like this:
The top four players will each be the number 1 players in each team; the next four players will be the number 2 players in each team with the strongest number 2 player going into the team with the weakest number 1 player. The pattern continues until all position are filled up.
Then all teams will play each other on a set night each week. There’ll be captains, reserves, food, drinks and, and and. To keep flexible, each team captain will be able to call upon reserves if any of their team members can’t make a league night.
All you have to do, then, is sign up for the Social League at the courts and then start challenging. We’ll let you know the whens, hows, whys and whatnots once we have a list of people who are keen to play.
Like the social league version 1, this league is open to players of ALL levels and we particularly encourage beginners and new members to join.
If you have any questions, contact the committee member on duty.
